Youth Services

Longview youth thrive at Longview Public Library. The Library offers year-round programming for youth of all ages, from those beginning to walk to those who can drive.

Storytimes
The Longview Public Library offers three weekly storytimes geared to different audiences: Toddler Storytime for children ages 2-4; Family Storytime for children (and parents) of all ages; and General Storytime for all ages. All story times are held in the Moeschle room. Groups must call 903-237-1345 to register at least 24 hours in advance.

10:30 a.m. Tuesday- Toddler

  5:30 p.m. Tuesday- Family

10:30 a.m. Wednesday- General

Super Saturday Programs
Super Saturday programs are for kids ages 5-12. This monthly program may be the popular Super Science Saturday, a program related to literature or Social Studies, or something just for fun. Check the Library Events Calendar to find out what the monthly program will be.

Summer Reading Clubs
Each summer, Longview Public Library participates in the "Summer Reading Club" and "Texas Teens Read." Themes are selected by the Texas State Library. "Summer Reading Club" is for youth ages 5-12. Ages 13-18 can participate in "Texas Teens Read." Sign-up for these programs is typically at the beginning of June during the annual Kick-off Event. All youth are invited to participate in the summer reading activities. Youth are not required to fulfill the reading club obligations in order to attend any Summer Reading events, such as movies, storytimes, performances, etc. All youth are welcome to attend, even if not participating in the reading log activities.

Teen Advisory Board
TAB is a chance for all Longview-area teens (13-18) to get involved at the Library. Teens participating in TAB have a say in new materials being added to the YA collection, what programs the Library offers and more. All teens ages 13-18 are welcome to get involved. Check the TAB page and Library Events Calendar for info on upcoming meetings.

For more information on Youth activities for children and teens, check the Children's Dept page or the Teen Abyss page, or drop by the Youth Services Desk to speak with staff.
