Reading Room/Periodicals

The Reading Room is located next to the front of the Fiction section, past the Access Services Desks when visitors enter the Library. The Room provides a comfortable area for browsing through any Library materials. It also houses all current Library periodicals, including local and national newspapers, and a large selection of magazines.

The Library subscribes to a wide variety of magazines and newspapers. Magazines cover a wide range of topics including cooking, lifestyle, music, hobbies, news, politics and more. Popular magazines include People, Time, Cosmpolitan, RollingStone, National Geographic, NewsWeek, Good Housekeeping, and more.

Find information about local news. The Library receives local newspapers from Longview, Gladewater, Kilgore, Tyler and White Oak. Interested in state news? Newspapers from Austin, Dallas and San Antonio are also available in the Reading Room. For national news, take a look at the New York Times, USA Today, the Wall Street Journal and more.

For back issues of magazines, visitors may look through the magazine archives located behind the main computer lab. For back issues of newspapers, visitors should speak with Access Services staff.
