Due to the overwhelming loss of "never returned" Disney DVDs, we will start requiring $20.00 deposits, for select Disney movies, at the time of checkout. This new policy will go into effect April 15. Also requiring deposits is the newly added British television series "Downton Abbey."
Disney movies are expensive to purchase and because of Disney's "vault" marketing tactic, they are not always available for us to purchase replacement copies. You may pay your deposit by either cash or check. As we are no longer permitted to keep deposits onsite, reimbursement checks will be issued and sent via U.S. mail within 7 - 14 days once the items are returned.
*You can have a "standing deposit," meaning that once you pay your $20.00 deposit, so you can opt to leave it on file with us. This makes it easier for you so that you don't have to keep paying $20.00, wait for your reimbursement check, and then pay another $20.00 deposit for your next Disney (or Downton Abbey) DVD. Whenever you decide you no longer want your $20.00 to stay in the system, let us know and we will have the city issue and mail your refund check.
We hope this new policy will encourage patrons to return their Library materials so we do not have to keep spending money on replacing items and we can instead use that money to enhance our wonderful Library collection. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
