(Longview, TX)  The Longview Public Library invites residents to participate in a variety of upcoming activities, including the opportunity to bring back some overdue materials free of charge for a limited time only.

For more information about the Library or events, please go to www.LongviewLibrary.com, call 903-237-1350, or visit the Longview Public Library at 222 W. Cotton St.

Upcoming Activities:

Amnesty Week: January 14 -18
During Amnesty Week of January 14 - 18, Library patrons are encouraged to return overdue movies and books. If an account is not in collections, the Library will waive all of the fines and fees associated with the item(s). If an account is in collections, the Library can still waive the replacement cost of the item, which is often a good portion of the debt owed. Items that have been severely damaged are not eligible for waived fines as the items would still need to  be replaced them. Reminder: Not returning Library materials is theft of property and affects everyone through increased costs to the Library.

eBook and eAudio Class: January 15
The Library offers a free service called OverDrive, which allows patrons to check out and download free eBooks and eAudiobooks onto various electronic devices. The Longview Public Library is offering an informational class to educated patrons about eReaders and assist with common problems. An eBook and eAudio Class will be held from 7 – 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 15, 2013. Knowledgeable staff will be in the Moeschle Room to provide demonstrations and assist with questions. Patrons are encouraged to bring a valid Library card number and the password associated with the card.  The Access Services Desk can assist with library cards and password resets.  For individuals unable to attend the class, step-by-step OverDrive instruction are available at the Library front desk and online for Kindle, NOOK, iPad / iPod / iPhone, PC & Mac computers, Android tablets and smartphones.
