I Read To Animals is a unique program that we introduced last year. Made possible by a grant received from the Texas State Library, the program is very effective at helping children to practice reading by alleviating the fear and embarrassment that is often associated with reading aloud in a classroom setting. Animals are friendly, patient listeners and can be great confidence builders.
During Summer Reading Club (SRC), we will be offering two mini-sessions of I Read To Animals. We will use these sessions to allow kids to come into the library and practice their reading skills by reading aloud to real animals, provided by the Texas Star Rescue group. Grab your favorite animal-related book and come on into the library during this special time to sharpen those reading skills while entertaining a new furry friend!
For more information, stop by the library or call Miss Monica at 903-237-1027.
*This is a Summer Reading Club (SRC) Event! Join us this summer for a collection of exciting programs on Wednesdays and Fridays! Although the programs are geared toward children ages 5-12, all ages are welcome to attend if they can behave appropriately. Adults who are not accompanied by a child may attend summer programs if space permits. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis and attendance is limited to room capacity for all programs.
