Julie Williams' great uncle was on the legendary Titanic when the great ship went down. As a result, Julie grew up hearing all of his stories firsthand and naturally grew up with a fascination surrounding the ship and it's fate. She went on to write a book, A Rare Titanic Family, and it was published last year!
The Birmingham, Ala; author will be here, in the Longview Public Library's Moeschle Room, on Friday, January 18th, to share her great uncle's stories with us. She will also discuss her book and autograph copies for interested patrons!

This class will offer students the opportunity to become familiar with Microsoft's Publisher, a desktop publishing program. Students will learn the kinds of publications they can make with this program, learn to use the Wizard to create a card, learn to edit text and add text boxes, and learn to add clip art. The final product will be a greeting card. The class assumes the student has some experience with Windows and using a mouse. Intermediate class.

*This is the second part of the Adobe InDesign class and will expand on the basics, which was covered in the Adobe InDesign I class. In order to keep the class on schedule, you MUST have already taken the Adobe InDesign class before you can take this part 2 class.

Students will learn how to create a presentation, change formatting on individual slides, insert clip art, and apply designs, animations, transitions, and effects. They will learn some of the basic components of a computer, will learn to navigate through the Windows environment, and will learn to operate the mouse and keyboard. Students will also receive a brief introduction to the Internet with particular attention to the World Wide Web.They will gain a simple understanding of how the Internet is structured and how it functions.
Through hands-on exercises, students will explore sample programs, learn about Microsoft's Internet Explorer, hyperlinks, and searching the Internet.. This class is designed for beginning computer users.
