I Read To Animals is a unique program that we introduced last year. Made possible by a grant received from the Texas State Library, the program is very effective at helping children to practice reading by alleviating the fear and embarrassment that is often associated with reading aloud in a classroom setting. Animals are friendly, patient listeners and can be great confidence builders.
We will be offering another session of I Read To Animals on Tuesday, May 7th at 3:30 PM. We will use this time to allow kids to come into the library and practice their reading skills by reading aloud to real animals, provided by the Texas Star Rescue group. Grab your favorite animal-related book and come on into the library during this special time to sharpen those reading skills while entertaining a new furry friend! And if you really love one of the dogs and puppies, you can even apply to adopt them and take them home with you if you're approved by the rescue!
For more information on the I Read To Animals program, stop by the library or call Miss Monica at 903-237-1027.
