That’s right, Santa Claus will be stopping by the Longview Public Library's Children’s Department! He and Mrs. Claus will be here 1 day only this year: Tuesday, December 4th. They'll be here at 10:30am so make sure you bring those wish lists and cameras along for the ride! You don’t want to miss this special visit from St. Nick and a wonderful opportunity for some great family Christmas photos!

We'll be in the Moeschle Room from 10:30 AM - 12 NOON with the gadgets & "toys" for you to come in and get a feel for each one. Compare them and talk to the people that use them on a daily basis.
Gobble, Gobble! The Thanksgiving Art Contest is back!
Beginning Sunday, November 11th, Kids ages 0-12 will have the chance to get creative with their own handprint turkey! The turkeys will be grouped by the age of the artist: 0-4, 5-8, and 9-12. We’ll pick one winner from each group!
If you want a chance to win, and have your gobbler displayed in the LPL Children’s Department, bring them to the Children’s Desk at either the main branch or our Broughton Branch Library by Sunday, November 18th! Don’t forget to put your name, age, and phone number on the back of your turkey!

Photoshop I & II
This class will serve as an introduction to Adobe Photoshop & will continue to expand on the skills learned. We will be using the Photoshop program to enhance photos and will touch on many of the unlimited uses of the features that the program offers. Students are encouraged to take notes and bring a rewritable CD, DVD, or 4GB flash drive to save their work. Flash drives may be purchased from the Library for $10.00 at the Access Services desks. Students are also welcome to bring their photos on a disc or drive to use as well.

This is the advanced class for Microsoft Access, a database program that easily organizes contacts, employees and other groups of data. With multiple organization options and the ability to link or import information from other databases, the program allows you to search and categorize data into various methods, including forms, reports and tables. The purpose of this class is to introduce participants to the basics of Microsoft Access including creating tables, forms, queries and reports. The class assumes the student has some experience with Windows and using a mouse, as well as the basics of Microsoft Access.

This course will offer students an opportunity to become more familiar with using a computer and also with surfing the internet. They will learn some of the basic components of a computer, will learn to navigate through the Windows environment, and will learn to operate the mouse and keyboard. Students will also receive a brief introduction to the Internet with particular attention to the World Wide Web.They will gain a simple understanding of how the Internet is structured and how it functions.
Through hands-on exercises, students will explore sample programs, learn about Microsoft's Internet Explorer, hyperlinks, and searching the Internet.. This class is designed for beginning computer users.

This class will provide students with an overview of how to create presentations using Microsoft's PowerPoint. Students will learn how to create a presentation, change formatting on individual slides, insert clip art, and apply designs, animations, transitions, and effects. The final product will be a short presentation with handouts. This class assumes the student has some experience with Windows and using a mouse. Intermediate class.
