Adobe InDesign is a creative design program that allows users to create posters, flyers and brochures. It also contains features to create magazines and newspapers. The purpose of this class is to introduce participants to the basics of Adobe InDesign and provide some insight to all it has to offer. The class assumes the student has some experience with computers and using a mouse and it is recommended that Intro To iMac Computers I, II, & III be completed beforehand to allow you to focus on the InDesign program and not the iMac computer itself.

This course will offer students an opportunity to become more familiar with using a computer and also with surfing the internet. They will learn some of the basic components of a computer, will learn to navigate through the Windows environment, and will learn to operate the mouse and keyboard. Students will also receive a brief introduction to the Internet with particular attention to the World Wide Web.They will gain a simple understanding of how the Internet is structured and how it functions.
Through hands-on exercises, students will explore sample programs, learn about Microsoft's Internet Explorer, hyperlinks, and searching the Internet.. This class is designed for beginning computer users.

This class is designed as an introduction to word processing using Word 2007. Students will learn the basic tools of Word 2007 and practice selecting text, modifying text, cutting and pasting, opening a file, and saving a document. Spelling and grammar checks, paragraph options, and alignments buttons will be discussed. Hands-on exercises will include editing a pre-existing document and creating a party invitation. This class assumes the student has some experience with Windows and using a mouse. Beginner class.

This class will offer students a brief review of the skills learned in Excel I and II and teach them to edit spreadsheets already created (like in Excel II) by adding cells and rows and using AutoFill functions while exploring other tools and functions of the program. Students will also work more in-depth with formulas.

Using hands-on exercises the students will create a simple budget spreadsheet and an electronic checkbook. This class assumes the student has some experience with Windows and using a mouse. The Longview Public Library will be closed in honor of Labor Day from Saturday, September 1st through Monday, September 3rd. The book drops will also be closed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and wish everyone a happy and safe Labor Day weekend.
Friday, August 3rd, is the last day to turn in completed Summer Reading Club reading logs. Come by the library anytime before Friday at closing time (6:00pm) to turn in your log, collect your reward and draw for prizes. You worked hard all summer long so don't miss out on your prize- you earned it!
