If you love books and helping people, we need your help! The Library is always in need of volunteers for everything from shelving books and stuffing envelopes, to cleaning and teaching computer classes! Tell us what you'd like to do and we'll try and find a spot for you! Just let us know when you would like to work- there are no mandatory shifts or hours for volunteers.
If you like to work with computers, class schedules are flexible- we can accommodate you whether you're available in the morning, afternoon or evening. We even have complete lesson plans if you prefer to just follow them or you can make your own. No teaching experience necessary- you just need to know whichever computer program you're teaching. If there's a program you really enjoy and we don't offer a class for it- you can start one- the possibilities are endless! Also, we would love to be able to offer computer classes in Spanish if you speak Spanish fluently!
Volunteering can gives you valuable experience to add to your resume as well.. From college students to retirees, this is a great opportunity to give back to the community. If you're interested in volunteering at the Library, contact Mary Jane Burnett, Community Relations Coordinator, at 903-237-1390 or email her at email@example.com
After the busy holiday season, why not focus on brushing up your resume? We offer a variety of adult computer classes to help you enhance your education and experience. From Computer & Internet Basics to the more challenging programs Adobe InDesign, there's something for everyone. You can even learn how to make cards, banners and other creative items in our Microsoft Publisher class which is returning by request next month!
Classes are free, but we ask that you register in advance, as space is limited. You can stop in and register at the reference desk or call them at 903-237-1354.
Also, if you sign up and then realize you can't make the class, please call and cancel so that we can give your spot to someone who can attend. Also, everyone who registers and comes to class will be put in a monthly drawing for a free flash drive and other prizes!
Join us on Wednesday, December 18th, for a merry morning of holiday crafting! We'll be creating holiday cards to give to our loved ones. Just bring your creative minds and we'll provide all the cards, art supplies, glitter and more!
Also, thanks to a generous donation from our local Corner Bakery, we'll also be providing yummy cookies to decorate with colorful frosting, sprinkles and other festive trimmings!
It's going to be lots and lots of fun!
